Festival du Livre

Founded by the writer Barlen Pyamootoo, the Trou d’Eau Douce Festival du Livre was held for the first time in October 2021.

An ambassador of Francophone literature, Barlen was born in Flacq in 1960 and has lived in the village of Trou d’Eau Douce for over 20 years. Holding a postgraduate degree (DEA) in linguistics and educational sciences, and having taught literature in France from 1987 to 1993, he has devoted himself to writing and publishing since his return to Mauritius in 1994.

Working closely with the residents of the village, Barlen mobilizes all local resources, including his partners, to democratize access to reading and writing, with the aim of decentralizing culture by promoting a village.
